Creative Hub: The Iconography of Food Panel
For SS27, Copenhagen Fashion Week introduces the CPHFW Creative Hub, a space dedicated to showcasing innovation and creative expression within fashion and beyond.
With rising prices becoming a fact of life over the past five years, more people are being priced out of the traditional luxury category. As a result, consumers are increasingly turning to alternative signifiers of identity, status, and taste. Food and hospitality have become key elements of this new iconography.
Food is no longer simply consumed, it is documented, shared, and used as a way to communicate identity. Every meal has the potential to become a cultural signal, with a coveted restaurant reservation replacing a new seasonal handbag, and a €25 loaf of bread becoming the new cashmere sweater. As restaurants begin to operate more like creative studios, and fashion houses continue to expand into the hospitality space, this panel discussion will explore what the aestheticisation of food reveals about the future of fashion, luxury, and the experience economy.
Moderator
Max Meighen — Founder and Publisher of Serviette Magazine
A former restaurateur, Max began his career working in some of the best kitchens across Canada and the UK, including the celebrated Montreal eatery Joe Beef. In 2019, Max founded Avling, a restaurant, brewery, and urban farm that sought to be a catalyst for change within the food system by rethinking sourcing, waste management, and circular design practices.
A desire to explore the broader conversations and connections surrounding the cycles of food led Max to launch Serviette. The magazine explores the themes, ideas, language, culture, and transformative possibilities shaping the future of food — from seed to stomach — and celebrates the people who help bring it to life.
