Cecilie Thorsmark has been honoured with the Elle Denmark Award for her for her longlasting contribution to Danish fashion.

Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week, received the Elle Denmark Award on Friday, November 1st, for her incredible impact on the global fashion scene. The award, which recognises individuals who make a lasting difference in their fields, is an important acknowledgment of Thorsmark’s dedication to creating positive change in the fashion industry.

In her acceptance speech, Thorsmark expressed her gratitude, crediting the support of her colleagues for her success. “Receiving this year’s Elle Award is a tremendous honour, and I am both humbled and grateful for this recognition. This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of my incredible colleagues, both past and present. Their support, energy and dedication have been instrumental at every milestone in my career, and this honour belongs to each of them as much as it does to me. My deepest thanks to the Elle Denmark team for their continued support: Cecilie Ingdal, Josephine Aarkrogh Schepelern, Nikita Hoffmann Andersen.” - Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Thorsmark has been a driving force behind Copenhagen Fashion Week since taking over in 2018, positioning the event as a hub for sustainable fashion and making it an essential platform to place Nordic talent on a global scale.

Under her leadership, the event introduced a sustainability action plan, which includes initiatives like banning single-use plastics and enforcing strong sustainability requirements for showing brands spanning six key areas across the fashion value chain: strategic design, material choices, working conditions across the supply chain, consumer engagement, set design and show.

Cecilie showed her innovative perspective on fashion week when shifting the event to a hybrid model during the pandemic, ensuring Copenhagen Fashion Week stayed relevant on the global stage. This award is just the latest recognition of her work in shaping a more sustainable, inclusive, and forward-thinking fashion industry.

Thorsmark’s win at the Elle Denmark Awards also reinforces Copenhagen Fashion Week’s role as a leader in expanding the global conversation on the future of fashion and the lasting impacts of fashion week.
