The Berlin based fashion brand lala Berlin is showcasing their Spring/ Summer 2022 collection from the heart of Berlin. The show will be presented in a digital format.
Berlin is not L.A. and Torstraße is not the infamous Sunset Strip, but that doesn’t mean Rock'n'Roll wouldn’t have any legacy over here – just ask Iggy Pop. Or lala Berlin designer Leyla Piedayesh, a true Rock’n'Roll-girl-at-heart. For the Spring/Summer 2022 collection, she’s traveling back in Rock'n'Roll history, right into the late Sixties, early Seventies. Just think of the Summer of Love, free love, and all that.
"California Dreaming" and John Lennon's "Imagine" form the title of the new collection: "Imagine Dreaming". This is not nostalgic or retro though. It’s just that the hopeful, forward-looking feeling of the 60s and 70s perfectly captures the essence of this moment we’re living in. Finally, we dare to dream again. We all carry the desire for lightness and light-heartedness within us. Who wouldn’t want to share this with the world?
Inspired by icons like Patti Smith and Bob Dylan during his "Rolling Thunder Revue" tour, the collection moves naturally between masculine and feminine aspects. "It's time for a new physicality," says Leyla Piedayesh, paraphrasing her reinterpretation of free love. Sexiness afar from clichés looks like: Gathers showcasing unusual areas; smocking details accentuating the body; sheer materials deliberately showing skin.
"We wanted to look forward and develop a lightness out of that," says Leyla Piedayesh. “For us, it’s about an atmosphere of departure and free-spirited values.“ On that note: Dream on!
