Meet the industry insiders – Q&A with Tonsure
Meet the industry insiders dives into the excitement and expectations from some of the brands on the official schedule for Copenhagen Fashion Week AW20, offering you a look behind the scenes.
After having graduated from Central Saint Martins and worked at Maison Margiela, designer Malte Flagstad founded Tonsure in 2014 — combining contemporary design with luxurious, innovative materials and high-end European manufacturing. Aware of the current state of our climate and the changes that happens alongside it, Tonsure has worked to address this in their AW20 collection, juxtaposing summer references with winter.
In your opinion, what sets Copenhagen Fashion Week apart from other international fashion weeks?
For me, Copenhagen Fashion Week, manages to interact and have an outlook on the world, but still feel very local and intimate. I think that is a great quality.
What are you most excited about, with AW20 approaching?
From a design perspective I am excited as it is an opportunity to present the brand in the best possible way. Winter collections are just more fun to do as you have the entire mens wardrobe to play around with.
Could you give us a hint on what we can anticipate from your show?
As much as I am excited about winter, I am also a bit frightened at how the seasons blur these days. We see the change happen rapidly and winters and summers become more obscured, even here in Scandinavia. I have tried to address this in our AW20 collection juxtaposing summer references with winter.
The Tonsure presentation takes place from 13.30-15.30
By invitation only.
