Meet the industry insiders — Q&A with Stine Goya

Meet the designers dives into the excitement and expectations from some of the brands on the official schedule for Copenhagen Fashion Week AW20, offering you a look behind the scenes.

Designer Stine Goya established her namesake brand in Copenhagen in 2006, and quickly made a name for herself on the Danish and international fashion scene. Last season, Stine Goya received international critical acclaim for her focus on sustainability and diversity — challenging typical frameworks and thinking outside the box. This season, she discloses “the show will be pretty different to the extravaganza of SS20. More intimate and subtle but still a breathtaking once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

In your opinion, what sets Copenhagen Fashion Week apart from other international fashion weeks?
Copenhagen Fashion Week is beginning to dictate the pace of what feels relevant and exciting in the industry. We show first, to fresh eyes and we offer the industry something they haven’t previously experience. Be that very literally in the fact that most haven’t visited us or conceptually in the way our collective of designers approach their craft. We style pieces in a different way, we challenge typical frameworks and we like to think outside the box.

What are you most excited about, with AW20 approaching?
The reaction – it’s always the most nerve-wrecking part of showcasing a new collection but always the most exciting. We believe in our vision for AW20, it’s now a case of whether the rest of the world appreciates where we are coming from.

Could you give us a hint on what we can anticipate from your show?
The show will be pretty different to the extravaganza of SS20. More intimate and subtle but still a breathtaking once-in-a-lifetime experience we hope. We’re focused on continuing to challenge the performative nature of our shows, showcasing in new rising talents and faces. I don’t want to give too much away!
