Meet the industry insiders — Q&A with Christopher Morency

Meet the industry insiders dives into the excitement and expectations from a selection of the press representatives invited for Copenhagen Fashion Week AW20 — offering you a look behind the scenes.

Through several seasons, Christopher Morency, editor-at-large at Highsnobiety, has visited Copenhagen Fashion Week. Christopher is excited about the Danish menswear scene that, according to him, is “ready to go global.”

Your trip to Copenhagen Fashion Week is fast approaching. What are you most excited about?
Danish menswear is on the rise. Long inward looking, we’re seeing the first signs that the country’s men’s fashion is ready to go global. I’m looking forward to seeing established names breaking through internationally while the next generation of designers equally getting attention from outside of the country.

In your opinion, what sets Copenhagen Fashion Week apart from the other international fashion weeks?
Copenhagen Fashion Week has always been democratic. The gatekeepers of taste aren’t just the big editors like seen at other fashion weeks. Instead, it’s the influencers, stylists and even consumers who dictate how credible a brand is. Copenhagen Fashion Week has equally led the charge for a more responsible fashion week.

Anything in particular you are anticipating from the designers at Copenhagen Fashion Week for AW20?
I’m looking forward to seeing brands create innovation through sustainable design, both established and emerging labels. Soulland is always great, and newcomer (Di)vision who are making their fashion week debut are one to watch.

It is our pleasure to once again welcome Christopher, who together with the rest of our VIP invited guests will be staying at Hotel skt. Petri
