Through several seasons, Ida Petersson, womenswear buying director at Browns, has visited Copenhagen Fashion Week. According to her, what makes Copenhagen Fashion Week special is the people and the atmosphere, and the great progress that Danish designers have made in regards to sustainability. This season, she is especially excited to see all the new, emerging design talent.
Your trip to Copenhagen Fashion Week is fast approaching. What are you most excited about?
New talent is always on top of my list and I will be paying special attention to Helmstedt and Sunflower, as well as my existing favourites Cecilie Bahnsen, Ganni and Rotate Birger Christensen.
In your opinion, what sets Copenhagen Fashion Week apart from the other international fashion weeks?
The people and the atmosphere! The Danes have found the perfect balance between business and pleasure and it shows.
Anything in particular you are anticipating from the designers at Copenhagen Fashion Week for SS20?
A continued focus on sustainability. A lot of Danish designers have made great progress in this area and I hope they can continue to lead the way.
Copenhagen Fashion Week kicks off on Tuesday 6 August – Friday 9 August.
