Fashion anecdote: Ditte Reffstrup
Fashion Anecdote: Ditte Reffstrup

Creative director, Ditte Reffstrup: Inappropriate behaviour
Ditte Reffstrup is the women behind the galaxy-conque ring brand Ganni, which epitomizes the contemporary Danish it-girl look. But despite being well-known in the fashion industry, she is not always a familiar face to private security guards not even in her own home an anecdote she relays here.
“It was in connection with our spring/summer show at Copenhagen Fashion Week last year. We had really put it all in for the new collection and set a lot of related stuff in motion, including a pop-up shop, a new denim collection to be presented at the show, and a new collaboration with the artist Ana Kras. I was a bundle of nerves until the last model left the runway. As the show ended and we could feel the intoxication of cheers and great feedback, it was such a relief. So the same night, we threw a big party at our house on Rosenvængets Allé, just brimming with people. The Blood Orange singer Dev Hynes turned up and DJed, and literally everyone was dancing — things got a little crazy at one point. Nicolaj (Ditte’s husband and CEO of the Ganni label, —ed.) and I stood on top of our dining table, jumping up and down, having a blast. So suddenly the security guard we had hired to keep things from spinning out of control comes up and firmly asks us to step down. He did not think it appropriate for guests to jump on the furniture like we were doing. I don’t think he had any clue it was our house. It was a really good party.”
Favourite spot in Copenhagen: “I love the area around Refshaleøen. There is this great atmosphere of young people pursuing burgeoning creative projects. There are just so many awesome places there, so I’d recommend biking there and making stops at Lille Bakery, Baby Baby Bar, La Banchina, before going to Copenhagen Contemporary to see the Superflex exhibition. Remember your bathing suit so that you can take a dive into the Copenhagen canals or harbor.”
Copenhagen Fashion Week highlight: “I love the team dynamics leading up to a show. The feeling of having created something great collectively. It’s so wonderful to see everything come together, and it’s a feeling I look forward to every season.”
