How are future fashion designers best supported in their formative school years? What cultural differences shape Nordic, British and French fashion schools and their educational methods? In this talk Ane Lynge-Jorlén meets Tuomas Laitinen, Finnish-born stylist, creative consultant, Fashion Director of SSAW Magazine and Associate Director of Fashion Design at Parsons Paris. With a degree from Central Saint Martins in London and a teaching career in Aalto University in Helsinki and now at Parsons Paris, Tuomas will share his insights on the various approaches to teaching, and how to best support talents so that they will succeed in the fashion industry after graduation.

Biographies

Ane Lynge-Jorlén

Ane Lynge-Jorlén is director of the Nordic incubator, Designers’ Nest, where she supports newly graduated Nordic fashion designers with international network, internships, work placements and exhibitions. Ane is also a curator of contemporary fashion and a scholar with international publications on niche fashion, fashion magazines and stylists. Ane was nominated for ELLE Style Awards 2020 for her work for Designers’ Nest.

Tuomas Laitinen

Tuomas Laitinen is a Finnish-born stylist, creative consultant, Fashion Director of SSAW Magazine and Associate Director of Fashion Design at Parsons Paris.
