In the spring of 2020, Copenhagen Fashion Week, CIFF, Revolver, Dansk Mode & Textile and WEAR joined forces in a closely coordinated effort to tackle the challenges of the Covid-19 situation in connection to fashion week in August 2020. Since then, the organizations have been in an ongoing dialogue about the upcoming fashion week in February 2021. With the authorities' latest announcements and tighter restrictions in Denmark, the group is now ready with a status.
Copenhagen Fashion Week will take place as planned
We are happy to announce that Copenhagen Fashion Week's show schedule will be running as planned in week 5 from Tuesday 2 February - Thursday 4 February 2021.
This summer, Copenhagen Fashion Week launched a new hybrid format that made it possible for brands to be on the show schedule with both digital and physical formats - a flexible format that enables brands to adapt their participation to what is possible and responsible in light of Covid-19. This is very much still the case for this season and we look forward to seeing what exciting ideas and production the selected brands on the official calendar will showcase.
Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week underlines:
“Copenhagen Fashion Week is fully aware that we are in a situation of an accelerating spread of Covid-19 and tighter restrictions and we will of course take all precautions to ensure everyone’s safety. At the same time, fashion week provides necessary opportunities for the industry - in terms of sales, PR and growth. We are confident that we have developed a viable hybrid format that enables brands to participate no matter what - with everything from pre-produced films to physical and livestreamed productions. And whether it will be with or without an audience, only time will tell.”
Just like last season, Copenhagen Fashion Week is constantly following the Danish authorities' guidelines respectfully and requires all brands to do the same. That means that safety is first and we must take our precautions.
The trade fairs await development
The trade fairs, CIFF and Revolver, closely follow the Covid-19 situation, including the authorities' rules and guidelines. They expect to take a final position on the situation on 7 January 2021 in the following order of priority:
- Is it legal to hold the trade fairs fairs?
- If legal, is it responsible to hold the fairs?
- If both legal and responsible, will it make sense for exhibitors from a business point of view?
