VIA Design is Scandinavia’s largest school of design and business in fashion and lifestyle, and part of VIA University College. For fashion week, the teaching staff from the design department have joined forces with several of the industry’s international elite in order to find the best 16 students to showcase their collections at the school’s show. CIFF’s raw building provided the backdrop for VIA Design’s showcase, its grey building a perfect “canvas” for the students, and their expressive and artistic styles.
VIA Design wants to motivate its students to develop their own design identity, which the show was a clear example of. Many innovative kinds of materials and expressions were represented; flowing silk dresses, hip hop and punk references, an orange quilt jacket, and 80s cuts. These combined with a strict but seductive office look, pearls attached in several ways, traces of yellow fur, cuts a la Henrik Vibskov, and great leather qualities.
In particular, the high level of craftsmanship was impressive. The VIA students deserve a big round of applause, for knowing how to play up against the industry’s biggest.
Watch out, world!
